Enough of that. I meant that we need to slow down, myself included. I am always on the run, working, being a mom, exercising, being a wife, being a friend.. normal stuff, you know?I love my family (and dog)more than anything else. I have realized over the last two years that I want to focus more energy on them. My daughter is 15 and my son is 12. I feel like in a blink (or two) of the eyes, they will be off in college. I want to do more good in the world, see the world, and enjoy life.
So,how to balance it all? Many people tell me to stop doing A,B or C. I am not that kind of person. Sadly, I did have to close the nonprofit I was running and that did give me more time. However, in general, I like to find ways to do it all,but smarter. I use technology all the time. People ask how on earth I tweet and post on FB so much?I do it when I am walking to and from the car, in the morning, at lunch, at night..It only takes a moment. I use my phone on my hour commute each way to catch up with family and friends(then I am not taking away from time with my kids).
This year, I went a step farther. In fact, I did it last year, too;) I bough PRECUT frozen Christmas cut out cookies. OK, collective gasp... I know. CRAZY right:) I still am making some homemade cookies this year. The fun, I decided, is not in the baking of those cookies( in fact, I can't master the roll and cut any more for some odd reason). The fun is in the smell of them coming out of the oven and decorating them with family.
It is a snowy day in WI and we are doing the Snow Day dance. We will spend time decorating, eating and laughing ..and have time to play outside...rather than baking and cleaning;)
How will you slow down this holiday season?
