So, what about people with disabilities/special abilities? Movies have come and gone and people who have legs amputated have been played by actors with two legs, placed in front of a green screen to create the image of no legs. Take Forrest Gump, for example-his veteran friend was a double amputee..but I have seen the actor walk with his own two legs. I love the show Glee, but the boy in the wheelchair is able to get up and walk.
Switched At Birth has deaf and hard of hearing people playing deaf and hard of hearing characters. In fact, some say the actress, Katie Leclerc, who plays Daphne, is not " deaf enough",because she is really more hard of hearing in real life than her character. Should the actors and actresses really fit the race and ability of the character or does it not matter and it shows the amazing acting ability of these people if they play characters outside of their real life situation? Just some things to make me go "hmmmm..." What are you thoughts?
