Meet Dexter. In real life, my Dexter is tiny, but brave. He will bark ferociously at a big dog or a grown man who walks by me.. He knows his job is to keep me safe. I love that about him. In the books I write, Matt believes Dexter is small but mighty, too. It is Dexter's love for Matt and his family that makes him brave. It is the fact that Matt believes in Dexter that allows him to be brave. Maybe if one person told the Cowardly Lion that he was NOT a coward,, he might have felt brave. I created Dexter's character and actions in Dexter Saves the Day
purposefully. In Forever Friends,, Dexter and Matt show people that deaf kids are ok. In Dexter Saves the Day, we take this concept a little further. A dog.. a tiny dog.. a deaf tiny dog can be brave and the one who saves the day! I want ALL kids to know that no matter their race/age/size/ability that they can be brave and are special.
Do you have anyone in your lives that might not look like they could be brave on the outside but have shown you that they are on the inside?I would love for you to share your stories!! Can't wait for you all to find out what trouble happens in the upcoming book and how Dexter saves the day!
