The weekend the girls came to visit from Vietnam, we had four baseball games for my son. The girls had heard of baseball, but never seen a game before. It was fun to take them to my 12 year old's game and teach them the rules, the ins and outs, etc of the game. I figured that our 90 degree hot weather would not bother them, because it is always hot and humid in VN. I was wrong. Since it is always hot, they stay in the AC alot. In WI, we are so used to being cold, that we crave heat here. Ok, fine, some people prefer the shade or AC.
We took the girls to restaurants for burgers and chicken sandwiches, took them to the mall for makeup, teddy bears, and clothes, took them to the movies, had them walk in the lake and walk in the sand. We skyped with their parents in VN, talked about culture, food, ways of living, etc.
We did not have enough time to delve deeply into things. They were friendly and answered my questions and asked many of theirs. I met my goal of listening to them speak to each other in Vietnamese and understanding some words. I was very proud!
What would you want to learn if you met someone from anther country?
