My husband and I are blessed with two amazingly sweet cats named Sophie and Butters. These girls are rescues that we got from owners who were planning on getting rid of them not because they were being bad kitties but because of health reasons. We were very eager to take both of these girls in.
Our oldest cat, Butters became a part of our family about three and half years ago when she was one and half. We have so many names for her. We call her NutterButters, BC, Butters Cat and Butters. LOL! You would thinking an animal would get confused but she doesn't. She knows exactly who we are calling for when we say those names. Butters is a chubby calico and tabby mix that loves to lounge around but quickly becomes active when we get her toy mouse out.
Sophie just recently became a part of our family this past Christmas at the age of eight months. For the first month, she was very unsure and was sometimes hard to find. We have nicknames for her as well. We call her Sophie, So-So, and our little ninja. We starting calling her that because of how quick and stealthy she is. I also sometimes call her my little cuddle bug because she really enjoys a nice cuddle. She still is young so she would definitely much rather be running around around the house. Sophie has an interesting yet sad background to her. She is nearing 10 months old now and had two previous owners. The original owners were mean and cut off her tail. They tried to sell Sophie to the second owners as a tortoiseshell manx. The second owners found out very quickly that her tail was cut off and she really was not a manx. They saved her because they were worried about her staying with the original owners. Recently, the second owners found out that they were pregnant and they needed to find Sophie a new home. Those people were the real saviors! They saved an innocent kitten from very cruel people.
It is hard to believe people can be that cruel to such a sweet animal. We are just happy that we're able to give these girls both a good home. My husband and I have another blog that we write in once in a great while.
